Straining ground beef fat from pan

I hate cleaning up a mess on the stove and grease is my nemesis.  I keep a big glass container to hold awkward utensils that don't fit in a drawer next to the stove and saw the strainer sticking out.  Turns out this big steel strainer works GREAT for getting every bit of protein out of a hot pan and transferred to the crock pot when I make chili. Let the fat cool and discard, so much easier!  

Not sure why but seeing how much fat was left over after browning the ground beef was satisfying knowing I didn't waste anything or add extra unflavored fat.
