Meyer's Elgin Smokehouse - Elgin, TX (meyersbarbecue.com) is known for its German smoked sausage and BBQ.  The Cowabunga sandwich is stacked with sausage, brisket and grilled onions.  The Texas Hot Pepper Sauce on the tables remind me of the Hawaii Chili Pepper water at plate lunch drive inns, sweet heat with a vinegar tang. 

It's also a good stop driving from Austin to Houston to prepare for the traffic, never a good idea to drive hungry!  Was lucky to be there after the lunch rush for a late weekday meal to get in and out quickly.
